The Algonquin Regt acquired titles in Belgium/Holland in early 1945. Looking at some of these examples that have been posted made me think that the Algonquin ones could be Brabant?

Bill, the Algonquin title is embroidered(or perhaps partially embroidered). So, to the definition of this thread, 'Brabant Weave' it doesn't fit as it is not woven (entirely made on a Jacquard loom). The cloth the letters are embroidered onto look like Brabant woven cloth. What does the back look like?

Hi Bill, Here is an image of the reverse. Having a closer look the fabric certainly appears similar to the woven Brabant material, but there are also some significant differences. The Algonquin title has a merrowed edge, and it is embroidered.

I take it this 115 Independent Infantry Brigade isn't Brabant / Italian?

Going through ebay, I came across this vendor's listings. The formation signs offered by this vendor appear to be Brabant weave? (My expertise in US patches is limited, but I don't think they date to the First World War.)

Default Brabant Weave - TBC

Would the experts please tell me if these signs and titles are Brabant Weave period pieces? Many thanks. Mike

Interesting badges Bill! My impression is that they are similar to the Barabant weave insignia made of silk/rayon (like the interpeter badge from my album and one of the Prinses Irene titles) however the American badges appear to be made of cotton rather than silk?

Mike there are certainly some very nice Barabant weave insignia you show, but I do not think the Jewish Brigade ever was around the Netherlands?

Luc, I think you are right. The material appears to be cotton. In my understanding, the Brabant type of embroidery/weaving was not contemporary to the First World War.

From the photograph, they all look like typical good BeVo made badges.
