Colchester borough Helmet Plate?
Views on this please. I saw it a while back and it doesn't look like a helmet Plate I've seen before for this Borough. Never seen those style lugs or a flat back on one.
Of course I'm not an expert. It would be nice to know if it is a variation, fake or for another purpose than police. |

Thanks Mike,
That auction site image confirms the image I have posted as a restrike, and not for another purpose. Just a bit more knowledge for the memory bank. Billyh |

Total rubbish fit for the bin. Its a casting of a genuine helmet plate and worth a fiver if that.

Colchester Borough Helmet Plate
Agree, not a real issue badge. From the very back of my mind, I think these things were sold by the Essex Police Museum about 35 years or so ago as collection fillers until a real one came along, or putting on a plaque for the wall. I had a list of the available items once, but as ever, cannot put my hand on it now. They crop up every now and then, sometimes wrongly identified as originals.
