1/5th wore a 2" green square below the shoulder titles as a battalion i/d.
The LRB History, P114, says that the cloth shoulder titles were introduced in early June 1915.
On the first day of the Somme 1/7/16 the bombers of each company wore additional marks of tapes on the left shoulder strap as follows
A Company - blue, B Company - green, C Company - yellow, D Company - red, (this info is from a copy of the Battalion orders held in the IWM Library).
2/5th wore a 2 1/2" x 1" blue rectangle vertically below the shoulder titles
