I put the name Ralph into the Ancestry search box and 16th Lancers into the regiment search box, and where this sort of reckless behaviour would normally throw up 30-50 possible candidates for a line regiment, only two came up for the 16th Lancers. Only one had an entitlement to a 1914 Star whereas the other candidate was only entitled to the British War and Victory Medal medals.

So here is L/6906 Cpl Ralph Urban Stanley, 16th Lancers. Born Hertford, 29th June 1886. Died West Croydon February 1985, age 98.
