Certainly worn upto the rank of Sergeant in the Royal Artillery.
If you look at Grumpys Proficiency Badge book page 11 you will see the badge worn by a Sergeant.
He further states the first mention for use by Household Cavalry was in 1923.
It did cover all Horsed units, ie. RA, RE, ASC & R.Sigs.
