Default London Detachment ATS Patch

A forum member sent me a note about how I displayed this patch - the ATS patch worn by the London Detachment, the red sword on a khaki drab field. It was a very polite note and the kind of help and support I have found on this great site, so my post here is not aimed toward any members. Actually the note got me thinking and is the cause for my posting this.

I have read on the forum that it was worn point down but do not recall who posted it. Then in the article by Martin J. Brayley in the Autumn 1997 edition of the "Crown Imperial" journal he states that "...it was worn with the hilt forming the base and blade pointing upwards" - page 25 and 26, image #25. I have spent many hours after getting the note searching the net for a picture of an ATS girl wearing this patch with no success.

Does anybody have anything solid about how this patch was worn? What would be truly definitive would be a war time photo of a girl wearing it?

Thanks,

Terry
