Found an old thread on War Relics forum that has an old "Assmann Sales Catalogue" , one point that puzzled me about the wreath was the 'open' top.
Most military wreaths are either a complete circle or have a smallish gap at the top but this one appears to be more 'U' shaped.
In the catalog there is a Bergbau (miner's) badge that has a similar shaped wreath , so perhaps the badge is not military ?
