Hello Gerry,

i am so sorry, but after further research, i was wrong in my reply.

It's not a cap badge as i said, but the collar badge. It's smaller. And i have the same in my collection with the Firmin markings.

In Churchill's book (fig 1736), it was worn officially between 1902 and 1911 (Dress Regulations), in fact during the WW1.
After 1911, the collar badge was a thistle and a crown in bronze (fig 1737)

And yes, it's a scarce item.
