Hi All.
I've owned a set of 4 Military Buttons which I was hoping to identify.
The following is engraved on the rear of each:
E W Jackson & Co London 58 Gracechurch St
The front feature graphics which include an anchor.
The only thing I could find regarding these buttons was gleaned from the following book:
Military Button Manufacturers 1800 1899 by Peter Naylor.
He indicated that:
- This company made Army and Navy buttons between 1880 - 1890
- The wording: Jackson E W & Co was associated with manuf in 1881. Other years included Edward rather than E in the engraving.
As these buttons feature an Anchor I'm thinking they are Naval buttons manufactured in 1881.
Can anyone identify these buttons, including year and theatre of use?
Cheers
Cliff
