RAF FLYING BADGES

The Gospel according to Jefford (Navigator Extraordinaire) states that he doubts that any of the following aircrew badges have received Royal Assent: QM ,LM, FC,AT, WSO and IA. Nevertheless I think it highly unlikely, that after qualifying, the RAF sent other ranks out to purchase their own flying insignia.
I think it more probable that the IA badge is listed in some obscure place in a Service Publication, due to its tri-service use (the first one of its kind I believe).
