This pattern of lion was proudly worn in well worn plated pewter or zinc like metal by Jan Beelaarts van Blokland, OC Princes Irene Brigade, in the 1980's. When asked about it he stated that this pattern was Birmingham sourced and worn by the earlier evaders in the UK before formation of the Prinses Irene Brigade and presumably the introduction of the Gaunt lion. Supposedly based on the art deco lion plate on the Dutch M1936 helmet, but not really resembling it, though of a more garish design then other lion badges. Odd thing is that its thin sheetmetal construction, both badge and slider, is unlike any other Birmingham made badges.

Rgds, Thomas.
