The badge looks just too neat, tidy, weird colours ...........
And where would it be worn on the uniform?
And why bother: a coloured armband would be much more distinctive and visible. Because runners were needed to run backwards as well as forwards and sideways, they had to be distinguishable to NCOs and officers "at a glance". A man wearing such a badge might be recognised by his own unit, but not by any other.
We need to know the provenance of this badge before accepting it in good faith, do we not?
