I thought you would all be interested in this. Her Majesty approved a new ‘Airborne Specialist’ flying badge and a ‘Reserve Pilot (Gliding)’ flying badge late last year. The Airborne Specialist will replace the Fighter Controller (FC), the Airborne Technician (AT) and Airborne Image Analyst (IA) flying badges. The Reserve Pilot (Gliding) flying badge replaces the Glider Pilot and Qualified Gliding Instructor flying badges. Stock is not expected in clothing stores until April 2021.
It rationalises the RAF’s flying badges down to 6 types plus the Preliminary Flying Badge (PFB) that is awarded to University Air Squadron Cadets.
