There were 7 battalions of the RGR by 1945, so it is quite possible that this is a battalion designation, obviously theatre made.
The 1st Battalion served with the 71st Brigade, 26th Indian Infantry Div., whose divisional patch was a blue triangle with a tiger stepping through it. The colours for the divisional badge are black, blue and tan [the tiger], so perhaps it was used by them.
