I have visited the Hooge museum back in 2015 as it would have been 100 years from the death of my great uncle who was a sergeant in the 6th Bat D.C.L.I he was killed at Hooge he was only 21 years of age when he died... lots of item displayed in that museum have been dug up by farmers when they plough the fields...

If you take a drive in ploughing season you’ll see bits of shells and other items at ends of roads waiting for the authorities to collect and dispose of... often just walking in the fields you see belt buckles cap badges on the ground not in great condition but it’s there. So I can believe these were found locally... however one thing I know for sure is mine is a fake 😫 bit annoying but hay ho!
