Yes Frank, the 6th guys were very proud to belong to that formation. An old family friend who served with the NMR in Italy took out all his medals and bits and pieces during a visit and pushed the medals to one side and picked up his 6th SA Armd triangle flash and said "this means more to me than anything else on this table" well I think that sums it up!

The Italian campaign was no easy affair, perfect for going on the the defensive. Weather also terrible in Winter, our friend told us so many stories hence my interest in this campaign. Just wish we had recorded his tales, he had an amazing memory, it was almost like we were there when he recalled his time it Italy.

He is sadly no longer with us, I am privileged to have his medals in my collection (sadly not his patch).
