Thank you for that, very much appreciated. I have heard similar comments before, so even if evidence for such practices is scant there seems to be some anecdotal reference. One of my other WWI Scottish badges did come out of an old Canadian collection with a similar story, so such practices would make sense.
As noted at the start of this thread I have 'three' of these all slightly different. It would be nice to see if there are another examples out there but maybe I have cornered the market..
