One way to tell an original from a modern copy is take a look at the crown.
on the copy the two (jewels) either side of the centre are perfectly matched, and perfectly made.
On an original the left one is always not as good as the right one, a sign of poorly made mould/die.
we are going to see this a lot I am afraid, the museum sold some of them of
cheaply , and now we are seeing them being cut down and sold as the real thing.
all of the fake ones I have seen have had a single clutch pin fitting ( of course removed), the fake one in this thread has had two fixings removed, so I would guess that a different type of fixing has been used on some museum sold types. I would like to confirm this , if anyone has one.
