High Wood- post 12 - re the hand-written notes - those are/were my notes made in the late 1980's from examining all of the battalion marks in the IWM insignia collection. The notes were photocopied and kept in the old Department of Exhibits & Firearms at the IWM as departmental reference. I don't know when the traces of the shapes were made but presumably they are from actual example in the collection. The company colour strips worn below the battalion mark were A - Blue, B-Green, C - Red, and
D - Yellow, and were constant throughout the whole 47th Division, they were adopted in May 1917.
