Basically being within range of enemy light artillery I think it was, between the dates shown.
Clasp worn on the ribbon that the star was suspended by, rose worn on the ribbon "bar" but the rose is sometimes found mistakenly worn on the ribbon of the star in conjunction with or without the clasp, as shown here.
