Default 44th Gurkha Rifles - 1891 > 1901

Just picked these up and it occurred to me that some members may have similar examples in their collections and were not sure what they were. The Gurkha Museum has this entry in the book on the 8th GR insignia: "There is a button in the Gaunt collection in the National Army Museum attributed to the 44th Gurkha Rifles in 1898. It is a plain stringed bugle with no crown and no numeral. It is in blackened brass. No rim, medium domed, flat back.25mm Diameter" There is then a photo of the button with the description "This button was worn by officers of the 1st Btn 1891>1901 Makers noted : Jennens & Co London ( with Prince of Wales' plumes).
I've been looking for an example for many years and knowing that as it wasn't obviously Gurkha - dealers might misattribute it. So I was delighted to come across these two (the smaller button is 17mm but same maker and construction) - not recorded in the GM book but clearly the same period and unit. By the way - If any member has a black horn button to the 43GR I'd be very interested in purchasing it. Tim
