Glad you wrote 'a" PFA. Many believe there was only one and also do not recognise the Air Landing Field Ambulances.

I spoke to the vendor, who explained briefly the following. Although he knew very little about his father during the war, he knew he was initially a concsiensous object, who eventually went into the RAMC. At some point he clearly joined a PFA - these were his badges taken from uniforms after the war where they remained in his shed until his father's death 2 years ago. Days before the air landings at Arnhem he had a burst appendix and was in hospital when Market Garden commenced, so did not jump at Arnhem. He later served in Burma apparently.
