I bought these two badges at a local auction last night in what appeared to be a house clearance lot which included a few other items.

My first thoughts are that these two badges are in too new a condition to be original. With the cap badge, the lugs are in the right position, but I would have expected a bronzed or chocolate finish to the badge.

The shoulder title has the correct lugs but again appears to be too new.

Are these original and remarkably well preserved badges or are they modern fakes.

Please note that the photograph of the rear of the cap badge is slightly out of focus.
