This eagle is a fairly common variant of the officers economy FS cap badge. The backplate on yours appears to have had the upper portion, where the crown would attach, removed leaving just a small portion of it behind. Attached is a pic where you can see the crown with bend over tags
The badge referred to as the "pathfinder badge" was, in reality, any of the various right facing eagles available - whether pin-back, lugged, screw pillars or could even be the item you have shown. The only thing that actually made it a pathfinder badge was the position it was worn, on the uniform left breast pocket flap.
The second pic shows the crown and eagle with bend over tabs.
