Picked up the Waterside Poppy pin and wondered when the "Poppy Man" figure first appeared .
I have a couple of pins from
2011/2012 , so thought it must have been around that time.
Then I discovered that the RBL had posted a "Poppy People" page on Facebook in
2007 with a picture of the "Poppy Man" logo.
A bit more digging and I discovered an article about an RBL campaign from
2003 :

This appears to tie in with a postcard I have (but didn't know what era it was from) , I can't (yet !) find anything earlier so it looks like my initial 'guess' was out by about 8 years.
