Hi Andy.
I can see where you're coming from, I can see the mark for the hexagonal fitting, and what appears to be a makers mark.
It does appear to be bronze though.
So if you're right, someone has cut the WG part off the leak, cut the fitting off, bronzed it, and, what looks like quite good brazing of the tangs, and is there a makers mark Welsh Guards shoulder title?
An interesting badge indeed.
