Just to add to this old thread. Here are some of my slip ons.

I have also recorded
K2 K3 K4 K6 K7 K8 (King's Div)
L1 L2 L3 L4 L5 (Light Div)
16 17 18 19 20 21 0N GREEN SHIELD
S3 on Light Blue shield
N T ON MAROON SHIELD

S4 on its own below is definitely on a purple shield and not a faded blue but I haven't seen any others on purple.

The three Gurkha items may be from the Gurkha platoon but I haven't seen any evidence for this as yet.

Also note the two different shades of Blue on the second and third photos.

Could the "S" and a number stand for Scottish Division if K is for Kings and Q is for Queens and L is for Light?
