Regarding Leonard Johnson
Born circa 1884/1885 at Tunstall in Staffordshire.
First enlisted into the Army Service Corps in Manchester on 24th January 1905. Served for two years prior to transfer to the Army Reserve. His service records state that he was the driver of two horses. He expressed a desire on discharge to become a Groom or Stock keeper. he was discharged from number 57 Company Army Service Corps at The Curragh.
At the time of his enlistment he gave his age as 20 years and 6 months and his trade as Warehouseman with previous military service in the 4th Battalion of the North Staffordshire Regiment.
At the time of his discharge in 1907 his intended address was Grosvenor Avenue, Station Road, Tunstall, Staffordshire.
He was mobilised in Bradford on the 6th of August 1914.
He embarked at Southampton on 5th October 1914 and landed at Zeebrugge on the 7th October 1914 and was posted tp 14th brigade Royal Horse Artillery. His next posting was to HQ 7th Division for service with the 7th Division Train.
He was promoted Lance Corporal 16/8/15
Acting Corporal 17/9/15
Acting Sgt 22/2/17
Acting CQMS 11/9/18
Paid CQMS 22/10/18
Transfer to Z Reserve 4/4/19
Served in France and Flanders from 5/10/14 until 27/7/18 then local furlough 28/7/18 until 29/8/18 when he joined 48th Divisional Train for service in Italy and served with them from 30/8/18 until 4/3/19.
After his final discharge from the army he lived at number 20 Temple Street, Tunsatall.
