I've been watching this thread with interest, a couple of observations, the A W Gamage Ltd catalogue doesn't seem to mention an option of "Guards" colours?
And the only trade badge in my collection which I suspect to be pre 1918 is this one which may be Guards but I would have thought was more likely RE?
So perhaps the white threaded badges were post 1918?
