I note the ribbons as MC, DCM, QSA and LS&GCM. The Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, during the timeframe that Mr. Gimblett served in the ranks (prior to the war) and till 1930, was authorized for permanent forces of the Dominions and Colonies, however the ribbons for the Colonials differed slightly from that of the British Army which was "crimson" (one of the reasons the ribbon was changed during WW1 was its similarity to the VC). The Dominion ribbons had a narrow central stripe in varying colours depending on the country; Canada's was white.
The Military Cross ribbon confuses me. There is no notation (that I found, though I may have missed it) in the linked CEF service record that would indicate Mr. Gimblett was awarded the MC. He was awarded the DCM for actions during his service in South Africa and there are notations of "D.C.M." on a few pages in the identification headings so it may be assumed to be the same man.
In the 31 December 1919 quarterly Army List which lists the war services of officers of the Army (including the Dominions) a search brought forth only two entries named for "Gimblett". Both with an initial of "W." and both noted to have the DCM, however no MC. I suspect that both entries (pages 1962 and 2014) refer to the same individual in that one entry mentions only service in SA and the other only 1914-19 war service.
