Many thanks for the information. I also like the reference to Indian Head design in Len Whittaker's notes via Ian's response (link to his album in post 4 of this thread). Len really was a trail blazer and an icon in the field of Commando and Special forces too. He was a great friend when I started collecting in those areas. Your own explanation regarding the Indian head design is fascinating, and your knowledge impressive - exactly the reason why I shared my images, and as always proving correspondence through the forum all adds to our collective understanding.
