Chief Petty Officers (CPO) of the 1st Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train (1RANBT) - Egypt, 1917.

Left to right: 45 CPO Herbert Charles Type. 103 CPO Noel Tracy Richardson. 107 CPO William John Knox. 51N Thomas Innalls Aldington. 75 CPO James Augustus Middleton. 60 CPO Arthur George Cooper, 177 CPO Percy John Marshall who was discharged from the Navy when the 1RANBT was demobilised on 24 July 1917. 170 CPO John McFarlane Harvey who was awarded an MID for his work in the 1RANBT and in 1914 was a member of the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force (ANMEF). CPO Harvey transferred to the AIF on 30 August 1917 as a sergeant after arriving in France was transferred to the 50th Battalion. He was commissioned and awarded the Military Cross on 1 September 1918. Harvey joined the VDC on 16 April 1942 and appointed as a Major (S70369), his appointment was terminated on 19 May 1944 after he was diagnosed with diabetes. 296 CPO Herbert Charles Parrott who was discharged from the 1RANBT on 8 August 1917 and briefly served in the AIF between August and November 1917.
