Mike, You must know that the British Army does strange things! When I was released from Catterick Military Hospital in 1959 after a bout of Chicken Pox, the Doctor who released me handed me a package from their stores. They had destroyed all my “next to skin” clothing and in the package was all the necessaries including a white shirt and a bright red tie. I asked if I shouldn’t have a blue shirt and black tie, He said No, that is Army dress for wear on convalescence from an army hospital. You may well imagine the explosion I got at the guard room when I returned to RAF Catterick! D.J.
