Hi,

I find collectors are as diverse in their views as the knives they collect. Some prefer mint/unused examples, others knives with history or provenance while others well used 'been there' examples.

I don't think there is a right or wrong way to approach the topic, it's whatever interests you.

My advice is to always by the knife that speaks to you personally.

From experience I have noted that mint knives command the highest value, closely followed by knives with genuine provenance.

A good example of the latter is this F-S First Pattern belonging to a member of the Darby's Rangers I acquired from the family earlier this year and subsequently sold.
