Welcome. Para Bn lanyards, or coloured epaulette tabs, were quite defined during the war and 3rd Bn wore a red lanyard.
Enlisting was regional, but posting wasn't always as regional as you'd think.
14th Para was formed in May 1947 from the 5th Battalion Royal Hampshire Regiment (TA). Their lanyard is predominantly black with old gold, the colours of the facings of the Hampshire Regiment.
