It is described in Norman Litchfield's book on Artillery Buttons as being used by the "569th (M) LAA/SL Regt RA (The Queen's Own) (TA)" between about 1952 and 1955 in "die struck convex gold anodised". He goes on to say "as for the original Regimental button of the 20th London Regt". So, the brass version could be for the 20th London Regiment.

Kent Cyclists used a completely different pattern, same horse but on a bicycle wheel design.

Problem is (as mentioned when this button was discussed here previously - https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...egiment+button) the same design was used by Kent Fire Brigades so it may not be possible to differentiate one from the other.

To add to the identification, button 5 is believed to be an officer's mess waiter's button of the King's Own Hussars and 23 is possibly an officer's mufti button as could be 16 with the Guelphic crown. Number 12, Middlesex, is I would suggest a 'civic livery' button rather than military.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for explaining the Invicta button. I don't have Norman Litchfield's book, but looking into it I understand the 20th London amalgamated with several other units in 1955 to become the 265th L.A.A., Regt., R.A. So would the 265th have worn this button at all? Either in brass or anodised aluminium or would they have worn Royal Artillery buttons?

Thanks again,

David.
