Personally, I would not bother with insurance for a badge collection. Anybody wishing to "screw" your house would be unlikely to want your badges. These days burglars want items they can quickly sell, usually to buy drugs etc. Badges and militaria generally are too difficult to get rid of.

The risk of fire/flood is a different matter and I can well see the value of insurance in that respect. But you can mitigate the risk in these two instances. Burglary of premises and theft are more difficult to prevent. If they want to get in they will do, despite all you may do to stop that.

I don't think the increase in premiums is linked to what you are actually seeking to insure, its more likely to be a general increase linked to the economic climate we are currently living with.
