I have a General Service badge which is manufactured from brown plastic but with the obverse painted olive green. And, sure enough, the badge was indeed made by Stanley and Sons of Walsall.
I had previously assumed that the front of the badge had been painted post-war – possibly by a child, until I discovered this thread. Thanks for expanding my knowledge.
