The Germans could use SIL, Silber being German for silver.

But don't the Germans use a number marking systen, like 800 and 925?

I may be wrong on this, but given that it is Polish I would look at Palestine. I assume that the Yiddish word for silver would be derived from the German.

Maybe all will be revealed when we see what this item is?
