Default HMS Calpe

I decided to include HMS Calpe in the Canadian section because of the role played by this ship in the Dieppe operation.

Royal Navy destroyer HMS CALPE underway, probably shortly after her commissioning.



Channel and North Sea duties in continuation.
Nominated for escort and support of planned amphibious operation.
June 1944 (Operation JUBILEE)

July 1944 Converted for use as HQ and Fighter Direction Ship in Dieppe Raid.

August 1944 Took part in JUBILEE preparatory exercises
18th, Embarked Military Force Contenders and acted as Command Ship.

21st. Under heavy air attacks and fired on by shore batteries.
Sustained some damages.
Escorted surviving Landing Craft to Portsmouth on completion.
