70° Reggimento Fanteria "Ancona"
Raised 23/8/1862 in Alessandria (that's an italian town in Piedmont, not the egyptian city).
Fought in the 3rd Italian indipendence war (1866) against Austria.
During the WWI fought on Asiago plateau, against Austro-Hungarian army.
From 11/3/1926 formed the XIX Brigata di Fanteria with 83rd and 84th Infantry regiments.
Fought in abyssinian war (1935-36).
From 9/5/1937 formed the 61.a Infantry Division with 69th Infantry Regiment and 43rd Artillery Regiment. Located in Misrata (Libya).
Due to the eavy losses the regiment was disbanded 23/1/1941, after the battle of Tobruk.
