G'day Vincent - again

Ive had a look at your post in regard to double marked Tiptaft marked rising suns.

Firstly I have looked in Jeff Cossums book on rising suns, he shows 1 Tiptaft badge, it has a slider and is double marked, one on the slider and the other on the rear between the crown and sun rays on the left side, the crown is not voided.

Secondly l looked at a collection that l have from a second cousin's husband who served in the 22nd Battalion AIF (infantry) in WW1. There are 4 rising suns, one of which is a double marked Tiptaft with a slider, there is also an unmarked rising sun with a slider with a voided crown, another marked Stokes and Sons that had lugs that are now cut off. And a forth that has a brass finnish and has a long pin on the back that looks to be origonal, this one is unmarked but has an unusual broader type of crown which is unvoided.

Maybe all Tiptaft rising suns are double marked, one die struck into the back of the badge and the second stamped into the back of the slider?

About 2 weeks ago l was at a dealer in Ballarat (country Victoria) who had WW1 slidered rising suns for sale at AUS$ 75.00.

I hope that this helps.

Cheers

Phil.
