Badges seems to come from Ieper's area, Belgium. The seller was unable to tell me where exactly badges comes from but all seems to stay a long time at the same place. I was lucky to buy this whole of badges and I wanted to share this discover, more and more difficult to find...
My questions are :
- why is there twice the same maker's name on back of the badge ?
- are the Tiptaft badges so rare and expensive ?
Thanks for the answers gentlemen !
Vincent,
they are expensive and sell for £100+ on Ebay.. As to having 2 makers marks, this is probably due to the fact that before silders they would have been lugged, so the switch allowed a bit of advertising? The MM to the rear of the badge would be part of the die and not worth removing!
