Tiptaft rising suns were maker marked on the slider or the body or both slider and body of badge. I also believe there are examples un marked as I have badges identical to each other one marked and one not.
generally the tiptaft badges are of superior quality to any other I have seen but having said that I have also examples like Phil says with rays on the sun that are not smooth like all the others, they have jagged bits that stick out on the sides of the rays and also in other voided areas.
I would say as demand increased the quality probably dropped off a little.
I also agree that these badges are over inflated. They are not that rare but you pay for the superior finish (on the earlier examples).
Anyway, Simon, yours is a nice and desirable badge and will sit nicely in your collection.
