Wardog,

You do tend to get two head shapes one slightly thinner. Also some have voided & non-voided tails. Thought the flatter shaped head might be a later variation, as my Royal Leicestershire examples have this. However I recently acquired a 1st Vols badge with the flatter shaped head with a Guant plaque mark on it. So possibly the flatter types are Gaunt badges ??? Just a theory.
