Default Best in the world!

An excellent look at the Guards of old. Of interest; The the Cavalry officers accompanying the King in pre 14 full dress and leopard skin Shabraques.
The Guardsmen are still wearing the full Slade Wallace kit with valise and the bandsmen have the full gold braid tunics dispensed with by the time of the war.
Note the superb bearskin caps of the time, much more uniform in appearance than now, usually with a more pronounced pointed tail to the rear.
And the real rifles and bayonets. The grand SMLE. About half way through, when the RSM transfers the color to the officer, note cloud of dust created by the dried white blancoed slings at the present arms!
The amount of time required to white blanco all that kit to perfection and then to don it and adjust, not to mention polishing buttons and boots and boning up the wood on the rifles, shining bayonets...Yes, they do have it easier these days.
