My thoughts would be that silver badges marked L&Co have copper loops, rather than silver ones, I have never actually seen any examples that were marked with a complete set of hallmarks from any particular cycle.
In the case of marked silver examples, they simply have a "Sterling" mark upon their reverse.
I have never seen an example that you could date beyond 1953 with a QE11 crown.
All the examples I have ever encountered do have a degree of quality, the Foot Guards in particular, I think that it would certainly be interesting to know, exactly, the where and when.
