Single metal badges are the hardest to authenticate in many cases but as noted the fact it matches the dies of similar badges (see link) suggest that it is likely to be correct.
I don't have a copy of their dress regulations but I suspect that the w/m badge was worn on their Green walking out hats from 1908-15 whilst they wore the bi-metal badge on khaki. The TF were issued the bi-metal badge (or economy 1916 all brass) from 1916 onwards.
