I do not believe this is an RAF item. They have only ever been light blue and red. The detail in your eagle does not match any of the patterns seen, with the wing inner feathers being overly embroidered. If it was WWII or before then the background would be dark blue black and not blue grey. Yes there were and still are gold stripes for the band and for mess dress. In the 1930s there were also gold stripes for the "patrol Dress" but this was short lived. Another gold eagle has also been seen but it is different to yours, being the correct pattern but in a deep yellow cotton. This one is an unknown also.
