Lovely badge, sarmajor, which set me pondering upon 28th (Swan Regiment) badges.
I noticed that your badge appeared to have a black patch behind the swan to colour and emphasis it.
I know that the post 53 badges have a tab designed to hold a black patch but I don't think I have ever seeng such a feature on 1930/42 period badges. However I do seem to recall having seen a number of those badges that have had a red felt backing so as to create a border around the badge. I understand the notion of the "black" swan and all but are those red backed badges correct?
